PUSKESMAS WALELAGAMA

Desa Walelagama, Kecamatan Walelagama, Jayawijaya, Papua

Puskesmas Walelagama located in Walelagama sub-districts, serves the 1,864 people (projection 2010) from
6 villages (desa): Pugima, Walelagama, Kulaken, Wamusage, Itlay Halitopo, and Kubulakma1. The Puskesmas
only serves for out-patient and is managed by Bapak Odik Haluk, SKM.

Type of Services Provided for TB and HIV/AIDS.


In TB related service program, this puskesmas provides services of microscopy for TB diagnosed and TB
treatment for sensitive drugs. While, in HIV/AIDS related service program, this puskesmas provides HIV test,
ART services, prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), and sexually transmitted infection (STI)

Since 2014 TB CEPAT has been implementing active case finding activities involving TB Mobile, Every quarter, Commented [SS2R1]: Ok, Mbak
this puskesmas conduct TB mobile to actively find TB cases in community, collaboration with TB Cepat. Three
Village TB Post (Pos TB Desa) were established (but only one is active) as bases for the kaders to do monthly

Challenges
Most TB patients working in the informal sector where wages are low and work is not steady reported
indirect cost hindering prompt uptake of and adherence to treatment. Long distances to health facilities
and transportation challenges aggravated this situation.

TB HIV still highly stigmatized disease in the community, a lack of family support presented challenges in
terms of adherence.
