1-5-1. Outline
This unit is provided with a network terminal. Using a Web browser, it can check the state of a projector
and control and set the network blocks.
Additionally, this unit is able to check the information of the projector through a network as a service-
dedicated function.
2. IP address confirmation
Turn on the power of a projector and display a menu screen. On the [Connection/Power] screen of a
menu, confirm the IP address of the projector.
The information below can be confirmed as Information and Event Trace when you click the
[Information] tab on the Web page of service.
1. Information
The displayed items are described below.
PROJECTOR
. Model Name: Model name
. Serial No.: Serial number
. Location: Installation site (Blanked when Location is not set.)
ROM Ver.
. Main ROM Version: Version of Main ROM
. Sub ROM Version: Version of Sub ROM
When a user forgot a Web password, click the [Setup] tab and then [Password] button from the Web
page of service and set the Web password on the password setting screen again.
In this unit, the error status is indicated by the blinking of the indicator. There are ON/STANDBY indica-
tor and LAMP/COVER indicator on the front panel. The error differs depending on which indicator
blinks.
For details of the blinking state of indicator and the error, refer to the list below.

Boards requiring use of lead-free solder are printed with a lead free mark (LF) indicating the solder
contains no lead.
(Caution: Some printed circuit boards may not come printed with the lead free mark due to their particular
size.)

. Be sure to use the lead-free solder for the printed circuit board printed with the lead free mark.
. The lead-free solder melts at a temperature about 40 dC higher than the ordinary solder, therefore, it is
recommended to use the soldering iron having a temperature regulator.
. The ordinary soldering iron can be used but the iron tip has to be applied to the solder joint for a slightly
longer time. The printed pattern (copper foil) may peel away if the heated tip is applied for too long, so
be careful.
1. Save the Main data and NVM data before replacement. (Refer to Sections 2-5-2 and 2-5-3.)
2. Replace the C board. (Refer to Section 1-3-4.)
3. Write the Main and NVM data saved in step 1 to replaced C board.
(Refer to Section 2-5-4.)
4. Perform the V COM adjustment. (Refer to Section 2-3-3.)
5. Check the white balance, then perform the white balance adjustment as needed.
(Refer to Section 2-3-5.)
6. Perform the angle detect sensor adjustment. (Refer to Section 2-3-4.)

If any board other than the C board is replaced, there is not adjustment item.
n
Perform this adjustment in a dark place.
1. Remove the top cover assembly and bottom cover assembly. (Refer to Sections 1-3-1 and 1-3-6.)
2. Remove the board bracket. (Refer to steps 1 to 9 in Section 1-3-7.)
3. Connect the extension board, C board and extension cables. (Refer to Section 1-4-2.)
4. Place this unit on the edge of table and spread a white paper on the flour.

Be careful not to drop this unit.
5. Connect the power cord.
6. Turn on the power and project the image on the white paper on the flour.

Allow the warm-up time of 5 minutes after the power is turned on before starting the adjustment.

Perform the white balance adjustment in sequence.
1. Change the input channel to VIDEO, then input video signal to VIDEO IN.
2. Select the menus in service mode: Device W/B High.
3. Copy the adjusted values of GAIN R/B/G and BIAS R/B/G in INPUT A color temperature: high to
each item.
4. Input the 10step video signal to the VIDEO IN, then perform the visual check the chromaticity of
each step.
5. When the chromaticity varies widely, perform the adjustment below. If not, proceed to next section.
6. Change the input signal to the 80% flat field video signal.
7. Adjust the GAIN R and GAIN G until the target chromaticity.
Target chromaticity (x, y): 0.284, 0.298
8. Change the input signal to the20% flat field video signal.
9. Adjust the BIAS R and BIAS G until the target chromaticity.
Target chromaticity (x, y): 0.284, 0.298
10. Repeat steps 6 to 9 until the chromaticity (x ?0.002, y ?0.002) with reference to the target chromaticity (x, y).
11. Select the menus: Device Save To Memory, then select [Yes] and press the [ENTER] key.
12. For each lamp mode High, Middle, Low, repeat the steps 6 to 11 and adjust.

2. Connect the power cord to this unit and make it standby state, then wait about thirty seconds.
3. Connect the USB memory to the USB A connector on the rear side of this unit while holding down
the [INPUT] key.
4. After five seconds, the ON/STANDBY indicator blinks rapidly in green, then remove the finger from
the [INPUT] key.
The writing is executed. After completed, the ON/STANDBY indicator lights in red.

When the ON/STANDBY indicator blinks twenty times in red, the writing is failed. Repeat from step 3.
5. Disconnect the power cord.
1. Copy the three files ru2vXXXXX.dli, 5212.inf, and ru2vXXXXX.mot into the same folder of applica-
tion file Flash.exe.

XXXXX means version number.
2. Double-click Flash.exe to start the application.
Application name: Sub Flash Upgrader for Sony Projector
File name: Flash.exe
3. Check ru2vXXXXX.dli, 5212.inf, ru2vXXXXX.mot are selected in download information file, MCU
Type setting, and ROM File Name respectively.
4. Click the [Setting] button of Com.
The window for operation frequency and bit rate is displayed.
5. Set the following items.
Bit rate: 38,400 bit/s
Serial port: Serial port number/USB port number used for connecting PC
Time out: Arbitrary (Communication retrial time. default: 5 sec.)
6. Select UserProgram Mode.
7. Click the [Start] button.
The start window is displayed.
8. Click the [OK] button.
The Please AC Plug In window is displayed.
9. Connect the power cord.
10. Click the [OK] button.
The writing starts, and the write window is displayed.
11. The End window is displayed. (Upgrade completed)

3. Double-click QuickAccess2.exe to start the application.
4. Select a target model on the Model pull-down menu.
5. Select Save on the Load/Save pull-down menu.
6 Select the data type (3Dgamma/LookUpTable/Main/Opt unit) on the Data Type pull-down menu.
7. Click the [Next] button.
8 Click the [Browse...] button.
The file selection window is displayed.
9. Select the destination file for the obtained data.

11. Select the serial port used for connecting PC on the Serial Port pull-down menu.

15. Disconnect the power cord.
16. Click the [Complete] button.

2. Double-click QuickAccess2.exe to start the application.
3. Select a target model on the Model pull-down menu.
4. Select Save on the Load/Save pull-down menu.
5. Select NVM on the Data Type pull-down menu.

7. Select the serial port used for connecting PC on the Serial Port pull-down menu.

9. Select SAVE_ALL on the Save field.
10. Check the Verify check box.

After completed, The massage Verify Success! Reading Model Name, Serial Number, NVM Map
Version and NVM Data Version is successful. is displayed.
14. Click the [OK] button.

15. Disconnect the power cord.
16. Click the [Complete] button.
1. Connect the power cord and set this unit to standby state.
2. Press the I/O button on this unit.
The lamp lights and the image is displayed.
