On this date at approximately midnight, Lapeer County Sheriffs Office was involved in a pursuit with
a vehicle that started in the parking lot of the County Jail. Traffic was minimal and the pursuit was at
moderate speeds. The actions and threats made by the suspect, prior to the pursuit, posed an
imminent threat to the public. This pursuit continued on westbound I-69 to Southbound M-15. An
Oakland County deputy was deploying stop sticks at the intersection of Southbound M-15 and
Seymour Lake Road when the fleeing suspect struck the Deputy.
The Oakland County Special Investigations Unit is investigating this tragic incident and Lapeer
County Sheriffs Office is working closely with the Investigations Unit and their investigation.
Lapeer County Sheriffs Office thoughts and prayers go out the family and friends of this fine Deputy
along with the entire Oakland County Sheriffs Office.
