General Description

Jaipur is the capital and the largest city of the Indian State of
Rajasthan.
Tenth most populous city in the country
Jaipur is known as the Pink City of India
Jaipur has a semiarid climate receiving over 650 millimeters
(26 in) of rainfall annually but most rains occur in the
monsoon months between June and September
In 2008, Jaipur was ranked 31 among the 50 Emerging Global

Accident (Facts)
Witnessed maximum accidents across the country in 2012
On an average, more than 2,000 people die in road mishaps
If compared to metropolitan cities across the country, Pink City
stands on the 6th spot after Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Pune and
Bangalore with a rate of 3.4% accidents occurring due to over-
speeding
Almost 250 two-wheeler riders had met with accidents in 2012
Three-wheelers were involved in 2.1% accidents in 2012
Big vehicles like trucks etc. were involved in 4.4% mishaps,
while 3.9% accidents had happened with buses last year
Small vehicles like jeeps and cars involved in 9.7% accidents
Accident (Reasons)
Many mishaps had occurred due to potholed roads, Other
reasons are rash driving, drunk driving, talking on mobiles
while driving, over-speeding, violation of traffic rules, driving
under stress etc.
Meanwhile, the death toll in mishaps also rose due to non-
availability of timely medical aid to the victims
More than 60% accidents took place during the night hours
Lack of visibility in absence of streetlights was also one of the
major reasons behinds the rising number of mishaps
Two-wheelers were involved in maximum number of accidents
in the city
