The abstract is a summary of the paper contained in a single paragraph. It should be no more
than 300 words. A good abstract will tell the reader what the paper is a about in a concise
manner. A typical abstract will provide an opening sentence introducing the context paper; this
should be followed by the aims of the paper. For example, the paper may identify how project
success is measured within the context of the airline industry. This should be followed by a brief
a description of the case, for example a single case-study on Airbus. Next, one or two sentences
on the key findings. Finally, provide a sentence on the main conclusion. (Times New Roman

KEYWORDS: Five to six key words to identify the key topic areas; these should be
separated by a semi-colon.

Introduction (Heading 2: Arial 14pt)

Normal Text Times New Roman 12pts. Space between paragraphs

Begin the paper with a clear introduction identifying the research area under study and why it is
important. For example, Despite the substantial investment into research and development,
project success within the airline industry has been difficult to define. References to support
opening statements are beneficial.

The introduction should also describe the structure of the paper. How does the paper begin? For
example, The first part of the paper provides an overview of the literature on project success
What is the important part of the paper? Are you presenting an innovative model? Finally,
provide a statement of the conclusion.

to the case. It is important to keep the literature review focused, rather than discussing everything
about the topic.

The Case (Heading 2: Arial 14pt)

This section should describe the background of the case. This should include internal and
external factors, which industry sector, competitors, any geographical aspects, core competencies
ect. The section should give some justification of why the case was selected as appropriate for
the study.

The section should also describe how the data was collected. Was secondary data collated from
the website of the organisation? Did you conduct interviews? If so, who with?

Analysis (Heading 2: Arial 14pt)

This section should show how theoretical frameworks developed within the literature review are
applied to the case. For example, how do the projects align with strategy? Or how are benefits
captured and disseminated within the organisation?

You may wish to present a model showing how a particular concept is applied in the
organisation.

Conclusion (Heading 2: Arial 14pt)

The conclusion is not a summary. Rather you are showing how the objectives have been
achieved. What lessons can be learned from the case? And what further study can be conducted?
