    HOW CAN WE TEST AND CONFIRM THE KINETIC MOLECULAR THEORY OF MATTER?

    1. Learn how to use the microscope. How to turn it on, its parts and the way it is used.

    Proper way to use the microscope:

    2.- Brownian Motion: how does it work?

    a) Leave a drop of water and a bit of bicarbonate on the slide. Place the slide cover on it
    and observe the result with the aid of the microscope.
    b) Heat up the slide cover (only a little bit) with a flame, and then observe once again
    what happens.
    c) Is there any difference that you can notice?

    3.- Expansion of liquids.

    a) Hold the test tube with a clamp.


    b) Pour 5ml of oil inside the test tube.
    c) Mark with pen the exact position of the oil on the test tube.
    d) Heat up the test tube with an alcohol lighter. Move away the flame when it starts
    boiling.
    e) Check if there has been an increase in the volume.

    How can this phenomenon be explained using the molecular kinetic theory?
