TAMAN MINI INDONESIA INDAH (TMII)

TMII was the last place for us to go as our field work in the schedule which located in East

Jakarta. After breakfast at Wisma Makara, we were told to be ready to head to the Museum

approximately at 9 am. The ride was not until an hour by bus, we arrived there. When we got

there, we were surprised because TMII was very large and an extensive park to get a glimpse

of the diverseness of the Indonesian archipelago, it represents Indonesia's 27 provinces and

their outstanding characteristics, reflected most strikingly in the exact regional architecture of

the province. An extensive theme park set in over 100 hectares on the outskirts of Jakarta, the

all Indonesian islands are realistically reproduced in miniature in a central lake and around

the lakes, there were pavilions. Each pavilion was representative of each province firm the

traditional architectural style in miniature to a wonderful display of cultural items and

exhibits. The park's centerpiece was a beautiful artificial lake.

The first place that we visited was Indonesia Museum that decorated building in Balinese

architecture, it houses contemporary arts, crafts and traditional costumes from the different

regions of the country. Indonesia Museum have been established through the philosophy of

Tri Hita Kirana'A. That explains the three sources of human happiness. First, the relationship

between man, the relationship to nature, and the latter relationship to God. Because that's the

philosophy of the building has three floors. On the first floor we are presented with a

traditional dress from various regions in Indonesia. Quite complete, the most attention was

the dress of the eastern region of Indonesia, which so detailed.

Then go up to the second floor where a traditional tool, whether it be a fire appliance, glass or

something else. Unique in this building, every staircase leading to either up or down there

was usually placed a statue of Garuda fairly eye catching that really interesting for take a

picture.

And finally to the third floor, where art objects. Slightly creepy but there was one thing that

we confused about what to say. Thus, there was an object made of iron in the form of trees,

but not the trees really. The object is called Tree of Life or the tree of life.
After that, we went to the building, customs house and in every pavilion there was a

performances featuring traditional dances, ceremonies and musical performances were also

typical of each region. On some platforms also include a cafeteria which serves specialties of

each region. There was also a souvenir shop selling various souvenirs such as handicrafts of

each region, custom clothing to accessories typical of the region.

In the Pavilion area (Anjungan Daerah), we can see the culture of the 34 provinces in

Indonesia. Each province has a pavilion featuring the building or custom homes, traditional

dress, wedding dress, the typical weapon to household appliances that are used everyday.
The building of houses worship every official religions in Indonesia are still actively used in

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah like Masjid Diponegoro, the Catholic Church of Santa

Catharina, Pura Agung Panataran Kertabumi, Arya Dwipa Arama Vihara Temple, Confucius

Kong Miao. So for those who want to worship no need to worry because TMII also provide a

place of worship in accordance with their respective beliefs.

Cable cars also available there that can be use as transportation in Taman Mini Indonesia

Indah. By using this cable car, we can see the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah area of over

freely. The rate charge was 30,000 rupiah per person. However, we did not get up the cable

car because we did not have enough time to. Furthermore, the visitors queuing to use the

cable car is very crowded.
