MUSIC VIDEO ESSAY

Adele - Rolling in the Deep

Rolling in the deep a song by Adele, its genre is pop, and has been award the MTV music
award for the best female voice. But the music video was directed by Sam Brown

The song has been well known for its artistic video, the video suits some element of the
video since the song sings about hatred and revenge on the persons she loved, and how
she fill empty and lonely, this is represented with her sitting alone in an empty room, as
china is being smashed on a some sort of board. This music video is what made Adele a lot
more popular, and the gloomy look, seems to be a constant style in all of her music videos,
making it the style that represents her.

The gloomy look I talked about has been achieved with a dark grey/brown tin to the video,
giving it more of a grimy dirt look, and it all seemed to be filmed in an empty manor, most
likely relating to the line we could have had it all. I believe the glass of water you see are
supposed to represent tears and show how heartbroken she is in the song.

The prop are quite simple but affective, with the drums under the steers in low key lighting,
and the glasses filled with water vibrating to the beat and probably the most memorable
seen with the what Im going to call a ninja dancing in the flour/chalk, also some miscellanies
thing you would see in a house example chairs. Costumes are black drees worn be Adele,
some ninja costume worn be the dancers and simple t-shirt and jeans worn by the drummer

Avicii Levels
The music video to this beat was first published on Nov 29, 2011, and the song has hit number one
as the best dance song in 2011 would wide. The song genre is progressive house also known as
Dance/electronic.

The music video may seem like nonsense at first but does have some meaning for example the scene
when hes pushing the bolder up the mountain, it supposed to represent the weight he has to bear in
his life and wants to break free by get to the top but each level is just the same thing and its getting
repetitive, as we sore in the first scene when he walks in to a dull looking office which has been set up
like that on purpose, you can tell he does this every day and he get sick of it when he starts to write
Avicii every were.

Then there is the flower scene, were everybody starts dancing, this is supposed to represent the song
its self on how its a number one it all around the world, thereve done this by having the actors in this
scene different races for example Black, Hispanic and Caucasian and Asian to show no one is safe
from this song everyone will hear it, dance to it all over the world.

The props and costume are what you would expect in an office or mental asylum, with the costumes
in the office thereve chosen for the actors a simple suit manly grey and all wearing white hospital
clothes in the asylum scene.
Michael Jackson - Beat It
Properly one of the most popular music videos and influential out there. The genre is pop, and was
manly aimed at people from the ages 12-40 in the 1980s and was popular with an even balance of
male and female fans. Michael Jackson music videos in the 80s is what started the storytelling and
narrative to be popular in music videos.
The music video for beat has been filmed like its a movie. The song sings about tell someone to beat
it because a fight will break out, the music video relates to that with two gangs gathering for a gang
fight, the video is an example of cross cutting between the two gangs and Michael Jackson.

And of course the video also relates to the singer himself with them dancing in the end, and like all of
Michael Jacksons videos it makes you want to be him with his smooth and slick dance moves.

The videos costumes wear manly a mix of punk 80s style clothing in a lot of ways its been over
exaggerated so the audience understand who they are and what going on. The props are the normal
things you would see in the 80s most notably would be the flick knife, which is your stereotypical thug
weapon in the 80s and 70s.

C2C Delta
C2C are four French DJs, that popular with there first music video Down the Road , but there most
popular music video would be C2 C-Delta from the album Tetra, with its catchy electronic/dance
music, but manly the animation is what spurned more viewers , due to the popularity of animation
on YouTube, it was bound to gain a lot of viewers.

The music video is aimed I believe at people from the ages 12-30 due to it electronic DJ style, I
believe you wold find this if you were watching animations on YouTube or listening to
electronic/dance music, this never played on TV, but still spurned millions of viewers because it was
uploaded in 2013 on YouTube knowing thats where it audience will be.

The animation doesnt have any relation to the music but does care a narrative and a futuristic
fantasy genre. It starts with everybody in a city in the middle of know where panicking due to a giant
upside down pyramid slow hovering towards them, the people the city do everything in their power
to destroy the strange pyramid, but all attempt fail, but the leader see what I will call a street chanter
that we see in the beginning walking towards the pyramid and gets though the shield. The leader of
the city does the same as everybody follows behind. Then a beam of light opens, and everybody
starts crying, as the light gets brighter then it cuts to black and the music video ends there.

Its a short little animated music video that leaves a lot questions, like why do they fear the strange
pyramid so much, it was clear that they were waiting for it to happens since they are guarded by high
walls and, the street chanter has it on his tunic as well as they attacked it with no question.

Maybe they start crying in the end because they came to except their fate and that was it for them,
or maybe it was tears of relief that it was not there to hurt them, who knows.

It was most likely ended like that so the audience could decide, a twist will always get people coming
back for answers.
Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H5I6y1Qvz0
This is a weird and wacky video, it seems that someone had a lot of fun in after effects making this one, but the
video does represent the scissor sisters you could says, since they are a bit wacky them selfs when it comes to
music videos.

The genre off this music video is fantasy and the music genre is electropop, pop, Alternative/indie. This video was
released in 2006 and would be at least played once, on any kind of music broadcaster on the screen. The target
audience seems to be aimed at people over the age of 16, since there a lot of old pop cul jhvl hints though out
the video.

The music video was made with a foreground illusion with a combination of digital compositions, the music video
is full of film and TV references though out the video, for example Bonnie and Clyde, pulp fiction, as well as David
Bowie and queen etc. The set would have been manly shot on a green screen, but there are some weird
cyberpunk style sets you see by the end . The props are music instruments used by the band as well as 70s style
computer, 1930s car, glass cases, etc . And the customs are 30s style clothing, as well as 70s disco clothing is
seen though the out the video.

Johnny cash-'Hurt;
This one is a powerful music video of emotion, which goes perfectly with the song. The music video
is a montage of clips from Johnny Cash's past performances, the music video shows the major parts
of his life as he talks about how his life is coming to an end, and also talks about the attitude of the
new era, and the decline of genre.

The original song was by the Nine Inch Nails, but the lyrics were altered by Johnny Cash so it
would, talk about is regrets in life, this is were the idea for the music video came in. the original idea
for the video was thrown out due to time and ability of 71 year old Johnny Cash. Instead the video
was filmed in Johnny Cash's home and museum, the museum was in a bad shape since it had been
closed for some time, but the director decide they could use this. This would be represented in the
video with the closed to the public sign shot.

The video has some powerful shots like the closed piano lid, to show that his time had come to an
end,and the cracked platinum records on the floor to represent a cracked heart and a time that had
been forgotten, and the scene with Johnny Cash poring wine out of a cup with his frail hands.

The music video would be known as heart reaching it made millions tear world wide, and johnny
Cash and June( Cash's wife) Would died within the same year.

The genre of this music video is classic country and would be aimed at any body over the age of 20.
