In Spanish if you think that someone is "onto" something, you can also use the expression: "por

Be up to (something):

ex. "Ella trama algo." (She's up to something.)
Beat out:

Break up:
(1) (a crowd, etc.) Disolver.
ex. "La polica disolvi la demostracin." (The police broke up the demonstration.)

ex. "Ya rompieron/terminaron." (They've already broken up.)
Bring up:
(1) Mencionar. Sacar.

Cancelar. ex. "Cancelaron el concierto/la reunin." (They called off the concert/meeting.)
Call up:
(military) Llamar a filas. ex. "Lo llamaron a filas." (They called him up.)
Calm down:
Calmarse. ex. "Clmate! No te preocupes tanto!" (Calm down! Don't worry so much!)
Care for:
1) Cuidar (de alguien).
ex. "Cuid de su padre por dos aos." (He cared for his father for two years.)
2) (to not care for) No gustar.

Cash in on (sth.):

Explain away:
