strategies?
Teaching Strategies:

The first teaching strategy will be Performing Task Analysis as this craft is
broken down into specific steps. You cannot complete the next step without
completing the first. These steps are kept simplistic for the purpose of
children experiencing success throughout the duration of the activity. Once
children have cut the caramel successfully they then can move on to placing it
onto their apple. Slowly the image of the caramel apple will appear to the
children and they can take pride in the fact that they have made the craft step
by step with minimal assistance from the educator and /or the parent.

The second teaching strategy that will be used is Scaffolding. This is to go in

hand with the Performing Task Analysis mentioned above. The children will
require assistance with the cutting stages of the craft. These are strategically
placed at the beginning of the craft so that as the craft continues the need of
assistance reduces. The next step is placing the caramel over the apple this is
something the children can do on their own, some children may need minimal
assistance from the parent with the glue, that being said this should be on an
as needed basis as opposed to the cutting which required direct supervision.
The last steps of the process, the child is free to conduct the activity on their
own with the parent present as a mere support partner in the learning.

- What might you
do differently
next time you
implement this
same experience
and why?
- Did you have to
make any
adaptations or
modifications? If
so, what were
they?
- What type of
experience might
you plan to
extend on this
one?
