Pak China Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) is being executed under the ambit of China
Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for laying 820 Km of OFC from Rawalpindi to
Khanjerab (Pak China Border) for 1st ever direct interconnectivity between the
two neighboring countries. The challenging project being implemented through
highest mountain ranges in the world has broad strategic, technological and socio-
economic dimensions.
Introduction
The project on OFC part is in final stages of completion and expectedly it will be
completed by the end of current year (2017). The project has a major role to play
on provision of broad array ICT services along CPEC routes for the other mega
infrastructural projects of CPEC. The project with its current and future
dimensions is a game changer for transforming Trade Corridor into Digital
Corridor.

Engr. Waseem Ahmad is Director Pak China OFC Project. He is graduate of UET
Lahore for his BE (Telecom Engineering). He holds a Master degree in
Instructor Profile Telecommunication from NUST. He has also vast experience of teaching in NUST
and APCOMS.
