Inclusion Philosophy Statement

My inclusion philosophy requires all students to be involved no matter their disability,
because a disability is not an inability to do, it just means one learns different than others. In
actuality, we all learn differently than one another, so excluding individuals because they have a
labelled disability seems unreasonable. The quote written above is my overall idea of what
inclusion in the classroom should look like. My goal is to make sure that every single student not
only feels that that are included but that they are included in my classroom. No matter how many
minutes a student is absent from the classroom they deserve the best education possible when
they are in my classroom, so placing students in an area in the classroom that is wont disrupt
students when they leave or wont mess up the daily schedule is not an option in my
classroom. Providing students with the equal chance to learn and grow in the classroom is so
important but in order to do that, not all students will be treated equally. Some students will need
more assistance than others in the classroom so providing those extra supports are important but
also still checking on all students to be sure and be a responsive teacher. I believe that it is
important to strive for equity in the classroom in order to reach equality for each student.
