Internship opportunities
Are you looking for an adventure? Google now offers internship opportunities throughout the year. If you
are studying Computer Science or a related technical major, we offer opportunities in a number of
Engineering and Product Management groups. If you are studying Psychology or Art History, don't let that
arts degree keep you from applying to Google. We also have internship work in many non-technical fields
– including Finance, Marketing, and Sales.

Cambridge, MA 02142

Google internships tend to require at least an undergraduate degree in an engineering or technical

science field, preferably CSE. Decision Support Engineering Analysts work with large data sets and make
decisions as to what stays in and what goes out, particularly in beta testing. Platforms Engineers work in
either software or hardware engineers and focus on optimizing Google products such as Earth or Droid.
Software engineers work on all aspects of Google’s system software efforts including present and future
software endeavors. Hardware engineers focus on the computers themselves, including the Google
servers and the marketable devices. Mechanical engineers are responsible for the cost-effective and
efficient packaging and delivering of Google infrastructure.

This internship seems to be geared towards software development and testing in terms of controlling jet
engines electronically. The description here is the best and most thorough I have seen on the website;
minimal additional exploration is required to reach a decision.
Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation is a technique that is used in the development and test of
complex real-time embedded systems. HIL simulation provides an effective platform by adding the
complexity of the plant under control to the test platform. The complexity of the plant under control is
included in test and development by adding a mathematical representation of all related dynamic
systems. These mathematical representations are referred to as the “plant simulation”. The embedded
system to be tested interacts with this plant simulation.

Materials Management Intern* Pratt and Whitney* East Hartford, Connecticut

intern responsibilities or give details as to the activities that interns typically perform at the NSF.
SVF Intern* SVF Foundation, The* Newport, RI

SVF Foundation is offering a unique internship opportunity to selected undergraduate students

involved in agricultural sciences (or related biological fields). This non-profit organization focuses on
the cryopreservation of genetic material (embryos, semen and cells) from rare and endangered
breeds of livestock. SVF collaborates with Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine to achieve
its mission and handles all aspects of germplasm collection on site. Selected applicants will be
provided with substantial hands-on exposure to unique laboratory and animal husbandry practices;
much of the time will be spent one-on-one with professionals in the field. Typically, time may be
shared between 3 main departments: Laboratory, where interns work with SVF’s Embryologist;
assist in germplasm processing; and observe and assist in cryopreservation methods and liquid
nitrogen handling. Veterinary, where interns work with SVF’s collaborating Tufts Veterinarians,
observe bovine embryo flushes, collect semen for evaluation, and perform other duties. And
Livestock, where interns participate in daily livestock care; learn animal husbandry techniques; and
perform germoplasm collection. To apply students must complete the application, submit a resume,
write a brief essay, and have a written recommendation from a professor or employer in an
