Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas


Announces Oct. 15 Application Deadline

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Sept. 19, 2017) Single parents living in Carroll, Madison or Washington
county are encouraged to apply for traditional scholarships, through the Single Parent
Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas. Applications for traditional scholarships for the spring
2018 semester are due by Oct. 15. Applications can be filled out and submitted online.

Traditional scholarships are for students enrolled in an eligible program at an area university,
community college or trade school. Students must be seeking an associate degree, bachelors
degree, Master of Arts in Teaching or licensure in massage therapy or cosmetology.

To qualify for traditional scholarships, a potential applicant must be a single parent, a legal
United States resident (or resident with DACA status), a high school or GED graduate, living at or
near poverty level and an applicant of the Pell Grant. They must also maintain a cumulative GPA
of 2.5.

Full-time students can receive up to $2,000 in scholarship funding, if they are enrolled in 12 or
more credit hours. Part-time students can receive up to $1,000, for enrollment in six or more
credit hours.

The Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas, Inc. is a private, non-profit
organization that works to help single parent families become financially stable and independent
The organization does this by providing direct financial assistance to low-income single parents
who are pursuing a career-related course of study in order to gain sufficient employment to meet
the basic needs of their families.
