Moderation for REDOX comments positive.

Outreach Communication
programme With Victoria University, dates not confirmed, then short
notice?
With students waiting on their decisions to enter or not
Difficulties in registration, limited numbers
Teachers day difficult to pay will send separate invoice
How successful?
Chemistry Teachers day, 28th Nov 2017
Chemistry NZIC Quiz, 14th June 2017
Chemistry Lab Experience days, 29th June 2017
Chemistry Scholarship Practical workshop
Chemistry Scholarship Theory workshop
All days are worthwhile and students benefit from the exposure to
chemistry but the organisation needs improvement. It has been better.

Scholarship Same format as 2017, 2017 timetable

AUJ - back titrations, dimensional analysis, particles
GDM - organic, spectroscopy
HMP - introduction, redox electrochemistry
AME books allow students to purchase these, decided not to buy a
class set - too expensive, use the money for photocopying
Scholarship day-was successful with 11 students opting to attend

AOB To create an interest in Chemistry

Mole day -suggestion for daily competition during mole
day/week answers in a drop box correct answer gets a
prize
Titration competition for Y12

Redox Internal, continue with the same experiment as it is finally running

smoothly
ABA internal book
First time for students so increase length of topic from 6 to 7
weeks, no/reduce introduction

Organic Not enough time to do experiments as there is so much content to

cover

Thermochemistry New molymods to show lone pairs, ionic solids x10

DG EXAMS NZIC exams
Sharing Google folder to students worked well and has been
unshared

Spectroscopy Teaching simultaneously with Aqueous worked well

Homework policy for senior students has this changed - received
mixed messages? On going discussion - students can do work for
internals at home. Students worked well independently on this
topic
The sharing of a WGC Blendspace worked well
ABA internal book

Aqueous Teaching simultaneously with Spectroscopy was a success giving

more time, not as rushed
Mathematics abilities? declining
