PA Standard Date Observed Notes

Explore and ask questions to 10/17 SM 1. I taught a lesson on


seek meaningful information 10/30 DF the importance of fire

pumpkin and they got
to stick their hands in
and feel the pulp and
seeds. A few students
hadnt done this
before and SK said, I
always wondered
where pumpkin seeds
come from. He made
the concrete
connection that if you
carve a pumpkin you
can get the seeds out.
Demonstrate a willingness to 10/24 JP 1. During free play I put

2. On a fieldtrip to
Highland Orchards, all
of the students
participated in making
apple cider using an
old crank. None of
them had ever done it,
and everyone tried it!

interactive play sequences 11/9 AP play with puppets
that include acting out roles 11/2 All students during free play. They

2. While at the
playground, a large
group of students
were playing
smoothie shop and
pretended to make
smoothies for the
other students. This
started out with 8
students, and within
10 minutes the rest of
the class was lined up
to get a smoothie.
They pretended to pay
each other money and
made up fabulous
smoothie concoctions.
Relate knowledge learned 10/18 ZJ We made homemade apple
from one experience to a 10/19 AH sauce in the crockpot. All
similar experience in a new 10/20 JT students participated. Some
setting. 10/25 All students shared stories about making

Some students talked about
what we learned about apples
and the parts of the apples.

or pieces of information in a and KG found 3

Use words and phrases 11/7 JP and SK 1. JP asked SK if his

that day during free
play, VP and AP set up
a table near the play
kitchen area and
pretended to have a
feast. They set the
table and put out all of
the play food and
drinks, then invited
more friends to join
their feast. I
overheard them
talking about the
pilgrims, and VP asked
AP, Can you show me
how to plant crops like
corn? They were
acting out the story.
Share stories, familiar 10/19 KG 1. During guided reading
experiences, and interests, 11/1 AS we read a book called
speaking clearly enough to be 11/2 LT Cold Rosestudent KG
understood by all audiences 11/6 MR talked about drinking
using appropriate volume. 11/8 JCT hot chocolate with her
1.5 K.D family and snuggling
under the covers when
its cold. She related
familiar experiences to
the story.

2. During free play all of


the students told
stories from their
Halloween adventures.
AS drew a picture of a
monster and asked me
to spell the word
monster for him. JC
came over and told
him to sound it out.
They sounded out the
word together and
didnt need my help.
Use a combination of drawing, 10/18 DF 1. During language arts,
dictating, and writing to 10/19 JP student DF wrote, I
compose 10/23 AP like to jump in the
informative/explanatory text. 10/24 SM leaves in her journal

10/30 EL herself jumping in the
11/1 ZJ leaves.

2. During writing, JP
wrote, I am 4 years
old in her journal.
Later during free play
she wrote the same
sentence on a piece of
paper and took it
home to show her
mom.
