Objective . 1.11 The student will use calendar language appropriately
Content

(e.g., names of the months, today, yesterday, next


week, last week).

Activity The objective of this lesson is to help students identify and


become familiar with language in reference to
(past/present/future) weeks and (past/present/future) days.
1. The teacher will introduce this lesson by reviewing basic
calendar terminology that students have learned from
the past. This terminology will be incorporated with
acknowledgment of the month, week, and day of the
time that the lesson is given. (I.e. Today is This is the
3rd week of Next week is last month was)

2. Students will then be put into three groups according to


calendar attributes. (i.e. The month group, the week
group and The day group)

3. Each group will come up to the board and move around


and identify their assigned topic on the board. They will
also have to talk about the topic in reference to the
past, present, and future.

4. The month group will have to drag or write in their


month in its appropriate spot on a calendar. The day
group will then drag numbers to the appropriate spots
corresponding with the month already put on the board
by the last group. Lastly, the week group will have to
circle and put shapes on specific weeks that I discuss
with them. Since the month groups task is so small I
will also allow them to circle and identify holidays with
my help.

5. Each group will rotate topics until every month is

covered overall in the class. So, there will be four


rotations since there are 3 groups.
6. Finally, the lesson will be ended with a brief class
discussion to analyze what the students have learned.
