Comments: Reminded students to show full body listening to regain attention, used countdown to signal end of time for
turn and talk, waited on students to follow expectations after saying class, class, nice job enforcing expectations(There
shouldnt be any moving around right now)

2. Instruction - Instructional Time


Intern has materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of the lesson or activity.
Intern gets class started quickly.
Intern uses available time for learning and keeps students on task.
Comments: Had book ready to show on the SmartBoard, had picture of completed heart to show students what the art
project will result in, had shapes cut and ready to pass out. Had paint ready and back table set up for painting portion of the
lesson. Passed out shapes for students to draw on as you dismissed them from carpet

3. Instruction - Instructional Planning and Presentation


Intern establishes links with prior learning and experiences.
Intern arranges learning activities to support standards.
Intern appropriately uses a variety of teaching styles.
Comments: Activated prior knowledge by asking about Thanksgiving, allowed students to share some things they know
about Thanksgiving, read book on the SmartBoard about a different Thanksgiving tradition, connected Tuyets different
Thanksgiving tradition to the different traditions students may have- allowed students to turn and talk about their
Thanksgiving traditions. Modeled and explained how to color and paint their shape to show how they celebrate
Thanksgiving.

4. Instruction - Instructional Monitoring


Intern circulates to check performance and monitor progress.
Intern varies level of questioning.
Intern ensures that all students have the opportunity to participate.
Comments: Asked questions to have students further explain their answers and make connections. Circulated to check on
student work- asked, What is your picture about? Used turn and talk so that all students got the chance to share their
Thanksgiving traditions

Comments: Stated objective of learning about Thanksgiving, moved into different ways to celebrate this holiday. Allowed 2
students to share what they do since they dont celebrate Thanksgiving.

Did the interns/student teachers classroom management support the learning outcomes?
Yes. Very calm demeanor provided a calm atmosphere in which to share. Reminded of expectations when needed and
stopped and waited for students to show readiness. You can always use praise to motivate students to follow expectations.
Was the Teaching Behavior Focus goal achieved?
Building classroom climate- Nice job appreciating different cultures in the classroom. It was inclusive and validated their
differences. Emphasized that it is OK to have different ways to celebrate Thanksgiving.
