Gifted Student Enrichment

I. Acceleration
Involves moving gifted students along at a faster than usual pace
Allows the gifted student to remain appropriately challenged and prevents loss of
interest
Possible opportunities to enroll in college level mathematics courses
Can peer teach
Be cautious that the student is actually ready for the fast pace

II. Expansion
Form of enrichment that allows the students to delve more deeply into the topics
being studied

III. Digression
Results when the teachers digresses from a topic in the regular curriculum to
consider another topic that is related to and generally an outgrowth of the first
topic
More time is available for discussion of another related topic before continuing
with the prescribed curriculum since gifted students often move at a quicker pace
