STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Major: Masters in Telecommunications

As an individual I feel Sky should not be the limit to oneself for his hunger of knowledge,
because the true essence of civilization lies in mans unquenchable quest for knowledge.

And this, perhaps, best symbolizes my purpose for further graduate study; the pursuit of
excellence, the need for enlightenment and the want of knowledge. A professional need to be
globally compatible if he has to reach a pinnacle in his field. The Masters degree in
Telecommunication Engineering, I intend to pursue is a step toward carving a niche for myself
on the global platform. I am at the take off stage where fundamentals are clear but a whole new
exciting world of additional knowledge, research and application beckons me.

From my standard one still present, my boarding experience has given me a lot of self-
confidence and made me pliant to all the situations. It was only then in my twelfth grade that I
realised mere coding and wireless communication was no longer enough to satisfy my curiosity
and I started looking out for fields that allowed future scope for end to end communication,
mobile communication, technical growth, but still was inherently dependant on social sciences,
mathematical and physical approaches of solving problems which would help me throughout my
career.

I have an exceptional academic record throughout my Bachelors degree program in Electronics

and Telecommunication, which has provided me the poise to excel in research and course work. I
have also been benefited from the curriculum of Jain University - that has given me a
comprehensive exposure to the vast areas of Telecommunication and a strong conceptual
understanding of the same especially through courses like ARM processors, VLSI, Embedded
Systems, Verilog coding, VHDL, MATLAB. But I realized that it was more important to gain a
thorough knowledge of the subjects, and therefore never constricted my field of study to the
immediate purview of the syllabus.

I have successfully completed a project on Satellite Remote Sensing Data for Rainfall Analysis
using TRMM Satellite as a part of my final year undergraduate studies. This project involved
the capturing of high resolution images. This satellite was a joint venture between NASA and
JAPAN. The main methodology was Spatial Resolution of captured images. Using Verilog codes
and C language the analysis of satellite data was processed. This has widened my horizons,
exploring the way in which the communication Satellite operate. This project was carried out in
National Aerospace Laboratories, Bengaluru under the guidance of senior scientists Dr. K C
Gouda who has always supported and helped me in all difficulties which were faced in my
project.

I found George mason University to be one of the apt Universities to pursue my graduate studies.
I am eager to work under the guidance of the distinguished faculty members of the University. I
found the Department of Telecommunication engineering courses in the website to match my
interests in this department. I have been able to get a good idea about the courses offered at the
University and I feel that these courses and research work would help me reach my goals. The
university courses give an overall in-depth knowledge rather than just the basics. I am confident
that I will possess the required background information and a high level of personal motivation
that will enable me to successfully complete the research work and courses I undertake. George
mason university focuses on the practical knowledge as they have labs for the core subjects
which enhances students on hands experience. Changing ones outlook or perspective towards
anything is essential for the growth and thats what George Mason University focuses on. The
University provides the perfect platform and makes the student industry ready by its emphasis on
core concepts along with a close engagement with the faculty. The way the curriculum has been
structured will give me an opportunity to look at every aspect of building Router and switching
devices.

With a rich extracurricular experience that comes from George mason university, it has been at
the forefront of technological brilliance, excellence and has been keeping pace with rapidly
changing technological scenario by being solid, yet flexible. The areas of research being
carried out by your esteemed faculty intrigue me and accentuate my yearning to become a part of
your department, strengthening my resolve to study at George mason University. Also, the
hordes of student activities and programs only fuel my desire to attend your university which has
the best overall package to offer.

I desire to be considered as an expert in my field. My immediate goals are to be associated with

the latest research work during my graduate program and pursue a doctoral program after that. It
would be beneficial for my graduate studies and research attending your prestigious institution
would give me an opportunity to receive high level of education under the guidance of prominent
professors I would regard my admission to George mason not only as great honour, but also a
great responsibility and challenging to prove myself.
