Activities to help students discover more about themselves.

Positive, creative and stress free.


Exercise 1
1. Sit in a circle.
2. Everybody say your name.
3. Now repeat your name and use one word to describe your personality.
4. In pairs tell your neighbour about your life and one thing youd like to change in it.
5. Now stand behind your partner and say I am (partners name) and then tell the class what
your neighbour said as though you are that person.

Exercise 2
This can be photocopied or written on the black board and students can work in groups to discuss
their answers. A good way of setting up groups is to assign numbers or pictures (see next page) to
each student randomly and get them to find their group. They can stand up in the corners of the
classroom to do this.

Exercise 3
Students sit in a circle and the teacher removes 1 chair and sands in the middle of the circle. She says, for
example, stand up everybody who is wearing trainers and change seats. The one who is left without a seat
has to suggest the next reason for the students to change their seats. Its great fun and the kids love it. It
can be done as an exercise in clothing. E.g. those wearing white trainers, a red shirt, earrings etc, or food
e.g. everyone who has eaten patsa, lobster, souvlaki etc, or places theyve been etc.
