Choose a short song (binary form) (minimum 32 bars; maximum 3 minutes)
Arrange your tune for the following: Melody instrument (your choice) One or two horns (trumpet and/or tenor sax) Guitar (regular tuning) Keyboard or piano (you choose the keyboard sound) 4-string Bass (regular tuning) Drum Set (single kick drum)
The arrangement must include:
Intro (minimum 8 bars) 32 bar tune ending (minimum 4 bars) Intro and ending should be original material, composed by you TWO contrasting grooves (contrast A and B sections, or Verse and Chorus) At least 2 bars of each drum groove written out At least 16 bars of specific piano voicings At least 8 bars of guitar notation using specific pitches (not including the melody!) Written bass line (slashes or repeat bars may be used where appropriate do not use rhythmic notation) Kicks over time in the drums (emphasize accents in the melody) Stop time in the full band at least two times Score laid out correctly, with rehearsal letters, double barlines, etc. Dynamics, articulations
Turn in the following in an ENVELOPE:

The original (published) lead sheet or piano score
Score of your arrangement, on 11x17 score paper (written by hand or computer notation) Parts for horns, keyboard, and drums (on M15 paper or Letter-size) Recording of the original version of the song Recording of your arrangement by a live band (Submit both recordings online you may use a youtube link for the original)
Arrangement will be graded as follows:
Musicality 15% Groove Writing 15% Adhering to guidelines 40% Score and parts 20% Recording 10%
