Ifixit Progress Report Final 1
Ifixit Progress Report Final 1
Purpose
This is a progress report on Team Tryptophans iFixit work on the Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard.
Summary
On September 30, 2017, iFixit approved our proposal, where it focused on the aid to decreasing pollution and
waste products by providing repair guides for Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard. Team Tryptophan have
completed milestones 1 and 2, and have begun work on milestone 3, and expect to send iFixit the first guide, to
use the feedback for better crafting by October 25, 2017.
Problems Encountered
There was miscommunication about the deadline for the Team Charter assignment. Because of this, the team
agreed the charter be completed by Sunday evening for there to be enough time for editing and submission.
Project Manager accepted responsibility of the miscommunication and remedied it by sending out weekly emails
detailing objectives and a tentative schedule for assignments.
Team Tryptophan originally disagreed upon correct headings and subheadings for the troubleshooting topics.
The Research Manager elaborated on the chosen topics and the Editing Manager concisely narrowed the topics
before commencing each section.
A member of the team initially had difficulty editing content to iFixit Device page. The Research Manager was
advised by the Editing Manager to send iFixit a message regarding the dilemma. The Project and Editing Manager
guided the Research Manager in drafting the email that was to be sent. After a response from iFixit, the problem
was solved.
Team Charter: On September 19, 2017, an iFixit group charter was submitted to titanium. For additional
inquiries, refer to progress report 1.
Project Proposal: On September 28, 2017, Team Tryptophan sent iFixit a proposal listing troubleshooting and
guide topics, which were milestones 1 and 2. A proposal timeline was also included. iFixit promptly approved the
proposal on September 30, 2017, and recommended more user-observed symptoms, which were revised on the
group proposal. A pdf of the response was subsequently posted on titanium.
Research on iFixit device: The group extensively investigated the Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard, based on
the considered troubleshooting and device topics.
Milestone 1: Troubleshooting page: On October 9, 2017, Team Tryptophan sent iFixit the completed
troubleshooting page. Then on October 10, 2017, iFixit approved the way the sections were broken down, and
how everything was formatted so that it showed up in the table of contents as user-observed symptoms and
possible underlying causes. The only tip given was that the group create a hyperlink for the Troubleshooting page.
A pdf was then created, regarding the response from iFixit, and submitted to titanium.
Milestone 2: Device Page: On October 11, 2017, Team Tryptophan submitted a Device Page to iFixit with a
correct and concise title. A photo was not uploaded due to the group not already taking images of the Logitech
Harmony Smart Keyboard, and mentioned in the submission. On October 12, 2017, iFixit accepted the Device
Page, and recommended to double-check that the Troubleshooting Page link is correct.
Milestone 3, Part 1: First completed Guide Page- Team Tryptophan will complete the first guide by the October
25, and send to iFixit for feedback for the remaining pages. Currently, the team will meet to begin dissecting the
Logitech Harmony Smart Keyboard. The Project Manager will provide the camera for image capturing, while the
Editing Manager will take on the role of displaying the object, and the Research Manager will be responsible for
providing proper lighting.
Milestone 3, Part 2: Second through fifth completed Guide Pages- Continuing the remaining guides will be
completed with concise steps, and proper imaging
Milestone 4: Conduct a peer review of another groups guides, and then make final edits to own guide
