Fact Sheet: Young Democrats of Western Washington

--About Us--

Young Democrats of Western Washington is an organization that is aimed at encouraging

young people to become involved in the election process.

More than just encouraging young people to participate in elections, Young Democrats of

Western Washington also encourages and performs: voter registration, organizing

democratic petitions, grass roots lobbying efforts and campaigns.

Young Democrats of Western Washington also encourages its members to be actively

involved in the political scene by running for office for various positions and electing

various democratic candidates.

Young Democrats of Western Washington also strives to support each of the ideals of the

Democratic party and provides its members with an active platform for discussing the

policies that the party has enacted.

Young Democrats of Western Washington provides all of its members with a wealth of

information on future jobs and available internship opportunities that can help them

develop their careers.

Young Democrats of Western Washington currently has several positions that will be

open for this year's election, including: president, vice president of party affairs,

campaign director, and Western Washington director.

Young Democrats of Western Washington currently has a total of 20 members

The organization's main meeting is located at Western Washington University and takes

place every other Monday from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. in room AW 303 at the Western

campus.

--Additional Information--

The organization mainly attracts students who attend Western Washington University.

However, any person under the age of 36 is eligible for membership.

The organization was founded in 2017. Since the beginning, Young Democrats of

Western Washington has been a student club whose membership is mostly drawn from

attendees of Western Washington University.

LaKecia Farmer is the current president of the organization. LaKecia currently resides in

Spokane, Washington. She has been active in politics for quite some time and has worked

on many different political campaigns in her county. LaKecia is a political activist that is

very passionate about social, economic and racial justice.

Jeff Beaulac is the vice president of government affairs. Jeff currently resides in Spokane

Valley, Washington and has lived there his whole life. He has a passion for youth

empowerment and strives to encourage students to be engaged in politics by sharing their

views with legislators.

Young Democrats of Western Washington is an affiliate of a parent organization which is

called Young Democrats of Washington. Young Democrats of Washington was started in

1932 by Senator Warren G. Magnuson in the nation's capital Washington D.C.


Young Democrats of Western Washington welcomes people from all walks of life,

irrespective of religious affiliation or race, the only requirement is that members be

American citizens and registered voters.

Young Democrats of Western Washington is a very formal organization, there is a

contact for questions or concerns and a website as well.

Young Democrats of Western Washington soon plans to invite several influential guest

speakers to discuss the current political climate in the United States and the role that

young people play in politics.
