Discovery learning have to include the learning experiences of the students to certify the

students can develop discovery processes. Inquiry based learning is formed from discovery
learning. In other word, inquiry is the improvement of discovery learning that can be used in a
specific purpose. In addition, inquiry based learning has higher mental processes, for example:
formulating the problem by themselves, experimenting, collecting and analyzing the data,
making conclusion, having an objective attitude.

Inquiry method is a learning method to make a serious effort in inventing the basic in
thinking of students. So, in this learning process, the students are learning by themselves,
improving the creativity of the students in problem solving. The student is as a subject of the
learning process. The teacher only as a consultant and as a facilitator in the leaning process.

In conclusion, based on the explanation above between discovery learning and inquiry
based learning, I found that both of them have some similarities, one of them is those method is
using student-centered, which is the students is the main object of the learning process. Besides
that, they have some differences too, one of them is the level of inquiry is higher than discovery
learning in mental process aspects, such as formulating, experimenting, collecting the data, and
making conclusion.
