Dear Dr. Bruce:

Throughout this technical writing course, I have ameliorated my capability to write for professional
audiences and to write toward a specific purpose. Writing in a variety of technical genres, I have
strengthened my writing style by the use of vigorous verbs and the paramedic method. The development
of my writing has demonstrated mastery in the six student learning outcomes (SLOs). To denote my
proficiency as a technical writer, I will be presenting an electronic portfolio, which is composed of my
progress report, the group charter, a peer review, and this cover letter.

My progress report, the major revised assignment, displays my proficiency in the SLOs of persuasion,
and language and design. This document coherently demonstrates persuasion (SLO 3) since I establish
my claim and provide evidence within the completed iFixit tasks section as I list all the assignments
(Milestone 1, Milestone 2, and Milestone 3, Part 1) accomplished by Team Tryptophan. In my progress
report, I employ features of language and design (SLO 5), such as white spaces, bolded subheadings, and
bullet points, to indicate focus and differentiation for each section. Its concise and formal language
expresses sensitivity to gender and cultural differences.

The group charter conveys my understanding in the SLOs of ethical citation, and organization. Ethical
citation (SLO 2) is clearly illustrated within the conflict resolutions section as I present information
from a variety of sources in a discipline-appropriate manner using the American Psychological
Association citation format. My expertise in organization (SLO 4) is demonstrated as I effectively
communicate each concept to address the rhetorical situation. The group charters content is organized by
headings and bullet points to clearly inform and declare Team Tryptophans mission, tasks, and
guidelines.

The third document, the peer review on the group charter, satisfies SLOs of rhetorical focus, and
collaboration. Rhetorical focus (SLO 1) is exhibited by the use of informal language to evaluate and to
assist on my academic peers charter. Additionally, the peer review was written in collaboration (SLO 6)
with Team Tryptophan to improve my academic peers quality written content through the assessment of
the six SLOs.

Lastly, this cover letter efficiently encompasses SLOs of rhetorical focus, and persuasion. My competence
of rhetorical focus (SLO 1) is further revealed throughout this document as I denote my ability to engage
in any writing situation with a variety of audiences and purposes. Since I formally summarize and
persuade Dr. Bruce on why each document exhibited in my electronic portfolio emphasizes my
achievement of the six SLOs (SLO 3).

These documents were selected to be presented in my electronic portfolio to demonstrate my progressive

mastery of the six student learning outcomes. To keep improving my writing style and format, Ill be
visiting the writing center. I hope that this cover letter was clear, concise, and effective to convey my
expertise as a technical writer.

Sincerely,

Paula Orozco
