Why are Bollywood movies so bad?

I won't say that Bollywood movies are very bad or Hollywood is too good.
But the fact remains that Bollywood rarely tries to venture into making something
innovative or daring.

I once had a discussion with an office colleague about two particular movies-
Gravity and Aamir.
According to me Gravity was a PERFECT film while Aamir was a fresh and very real
movie made by a debutant director.
The colleague argued that if Gravity was made in Bollywood then people from Earth
would send a hero
to rescue the woman in space and Aamir was a stupid movie about phone calls. His
point was that if you go
in theatre it should provide entertainment instead of boring the audience with too
much knowledge.
And this is the problem with rest of the bollywood filmmakers and movie buffs. The
flaw lies both in Supply and Demand.
The audience of bollywood films are divided into two categories- Masses (Majority)
and Classes (Minority).
Masses are mostly comprising of those individuals who do not own a luxurious life
(from a factory worker to middle class man).
Most of these people are too frustrated with their stressful jobs and an extremely
ordinary daily routine.
When such kind of audience goes into the movie theatre they expect to see something
so hypothetical that it no where
resembles their real life. In mumbaiya terms it should be "Paisa Vasool" (literally
Money Worthy but in Indian sense
it should be a complete entertainer filled with random songs, heroic action
sequences and so on). And this innocence
of the audience is cashed in by the film producers who see movies as money spinning
business instead of Art.
The greed is to such an extent that they make a movie in Tamil, then it is remade
in Telgu and then finally in Hindi.
Mostly these are the highest grossers in Hindi cinema. And no one is ashamed of it
as for the producers it is their bread,
butter and whisky; while for the audience its their Wonderland.
Classes are the audience who are on Quora. Like this handful of Audience, we have a
handful of filmmakers supported by a
handful of producers who respect the intelligence of its viewers and also excel in
their craft of making films.
So the divide will remain for future generations as well. Bollywood will continue
to make no brainers to conceptual movies. T
he only hope being the ratio which is unfair at the moment will change.

PS: Hollywood sells crap too again and again- Aliens, racing cars, sequels of
sequels, etc.
