REFLECTION PAPER DAY 4
As a part of the Business and Society Seminar, on Thursday, November 16th, 2017, my

classmates and I visited the Cayman Islands Museum and the C.I. Helicopters. This day was very

adventurous for us. Most of us including myself have never been on a helicopter ride before

which made it more exciting. It is usually a one-time opportunity to be able to enjoy the

breathtaking views of our beautiful island and the sea.

When we visited the Cayman Islands Museum, we watch a short film on Caymans

history and learned concisely or refreshed our minds about our islands history and culture.

Listening to the human animated robot, he educated us that he built the catboat himself, and the

catboat was named based on the fact that it was quick to go forward and backward. The nets

were used for catching turtles; the striker is for lobster and conch. The calabash was used to

remove water from the boat. Even, the water-glass helped him to see under the waves, he used a

conch horn for signaling. He used the line to catch grouper, barracuda, and jacks too. Seamen

would go far out and stay all day.

The way in which I have learned about Caymans history at the Cayman Islands Museum

is related to the topic of Business and Society, as advanced technology, in particular, was used to

inform us as the society. The museum used films, fun and creative machines, and human

animated robot to tell stories.

This topic is related to my reading in the official text of the book, The Role of

Technology. Technology has developed drastically over the years. They did not have robots

displayed in museums to teach us the history. According to Lawrence & Weber, Technology is

a broad term referring to the practical applications of science and knowledge to commercial and

organizational activities (p.233). Technology is changing and will continue to progress over the

years. Clearly, technology is changing peoples lives. Visiting the museum years ago was not

well advanced in many areas to be able to educate us through technology.
