Indias future female population

Using Indias census data and populationpyramid.nets population pyramid maker, I was able to

predict Indias population growth, in the year 2050, which a benchmark year for many demographers. The

website automatically crunches the numbers for us, which is a great thing to do when dealing with numbers

in the billions. Population pyramids break the population by gender and age demographics, which is useful in
the prediction of population growth because that is how professional demographers use the population

pyramid. The data used to extrapolate the data used in the graph is suspect to me because India, unfortunately

has a problem with infanticide and foeticide of baby girls, this is due to the dowry system of Indian

weddings, Indian families do not want to have baby girls because the dowry system is seen as a burden on

lower caste and lower socioeconomic backgrounds, which makes it difficult to justify having a baby girl

paying the dowry when she is old enough to get married. As of the 2011 Census, 48.5% (586.47 million) of

Indias population is female, which signifies that the practice of infanticide of baby girls in India is slowly

dying out is a sign that times are changing and that the female population in India is going to be on par with

the male population.
