SCHOOL NEWS

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: Our Christmas program is scheduled for December 19th starting at
6:00 pm. Students need to be in their classrooms no earlier than 5:30 pm. This evening is a
special opportunity for our community to come together to prepare for Christmas. Our
program is scheduled in the church because our intent is to share a prayerful experience
as a community. In order to further maintain the spirit of prayerfulness, we ask that you
refrain from applauding until the end of the program. This will assist us in achieving the true
purpose of this prayer celebration. After the program our PTG Board will be hosting a
reception in the hall with a special guest. The Christmas encore performance will be
presented on Wednesday, December 20th starting at 9:00 am for all parishioners, family and
friends.

CHILDRENS CHRISTMAS LITURGY MASS: St. Columba Church will celebrate a special
Christmas Liturgy for children and their families on Christmas Eve at 4:00 pm. This is an
excellent opportunity for children (especially those 6-12) to experience the liturgy at a level
geared to their understanding. The music, readings and homily will all be directed to the
children. Please plan to make this a part of your Christmas family worship.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY: Reminder: Our Christmas holiday will begin Thursday, December 21st
through January 3rd, school and preschool will be closed. School and preschool will resume
January 4, 2018 with a regular school day.

GIFT CARDS: Dont forget to get your gift card order in before Christmas break. If you order
lots of gift cards for the holidays, place your order with St. Columba School. Its a great way
to support our school and an easy way to shop. You can also order online just go to
www.shopwithscrip.com. enter the new school code: D6D72A8L5922 and follow the simple
instructions. Order forms are also available in the school office. Thank you to all our families,
parishioners and friends who support this program. Without your help this program would not
be possible.

WINTER SPORTS: Important reminder: Parents, if your child will be participating in winter
sports, and you have not paid the fees due, please pay these fees as soon as possible. Also,
thank you to all our parents who will be volunteering their time to coach our winter sports
program. These programs wouldnt be possible without your help. Also fall sports are over,
and for the JV & V teams, all sports jerseys need to be turned in to Mr. Fairchild or the
school office. Thank you.

ADVENT GIVING: During Advent St. Columba is spreading the joy of giving. We are asking
for donations of any new baby or toddler items for St. Columbas Ministry Culture of Life. The
items will be distributed to women in need of help for their young children. There will be a
box in front of each class to place your donations in or you can drop them off in the school
office. All items will be collected before we go on break Wednesday, December 20th.
