GROUP - I Marks : 10 x 3 = 30
1. Find the hamming distance between 1101101 and 1000011. Find the hamming weight
of 1101101 and 1000011.

2. Design a convolutional coder of constraint length 6 and rate efficiency .

3. Draw the waveforms of the bit stream 1010101 in the following formats on-off RZ ; polar
NRZ and bipolar RZ. Use a triangular pulse as basic pulse.
4. State Nyquist second and third criteria to realize zero ISI.
5. A PCM system uses a uniform quantiser followed by a 7-bit encoder. The bit rate of
the system is 50 Mbits/second. What is the message bandwidth for which the system
operates satisfactorily?
6. What is slope overload noise? State the condition for such a noise not to occur in Delta
Sigma modulator.
7. A direct sequence spread-spectrum system uses a linear feedback shift register of 20
stages for the generation of PN sequence. Find its processing gain in dB.
8. State the principle of early-late gate synchronization technique.
9. Derive the expression for bit error probability of a coherent FSK receiver.
10. Show, with an example, the encoding and decoding processes of a DPSK modulator and
demodulator respectively.
