It is useful to calculate the expected gap because there are limited size shims available therefore you may pick one that places it out of spec. So to be sure
calculate the expected gap, which will only be as accurate as your feeler gauge was for the initial measurements, but it should get it in the right direction.
You may also decide to pick a different target tolerance for the gap, some like it in the middle, some like it at the higher end because they wear down not
up. Size of Shims: In the Triumph manual it says they vary from 2mm to 3.2mm with increments of 0.25. Thus OEM shims range from 2, 2.025, 2.05,
2.075, 2.1, 2.125, 2.15, 2.175, 2.2, 2.225, 2.25, 2.275, 2.3, 2.325, 2.35, 2.375, 2.4, 2.425, 2.45, 2.45, 2.475, 2.5, 2.525, 2.55, 2.575, 2.6, 2.625, 2.65, 2.675, 2.7,
