Citation Assignment

Due Friday 12/15 @ EOD


Fill out the new research record with all the sources we have used this
year and create a properly formatted, typed works cited page with
these sources.

Include the primary and secondary sources from:


Mode Essay 1, 2, 3
R4D Summary
FFN Summary-Response

Additionally, include the details for a citation from all our books so far:
Fast Food Nation
The Jungle
Heart of Darkness
Summer Reading Book(s)

You should go off of the citations you already have done from your previous essay. Even if they
were incorrect originally, this is your chance to revise and improve them.
Directions for MLA Works Cited, 8th edition
Remember, the purpose of the Works Cited page is to help your reader find the source you used.
Provide the most information in the most understandable format to help the reader find the source you used.
Each entry may be different depending on the type of source used.

Author. Title of Source. Title of Container, Other Contributors, Version,


Number, Publisher, Publication Date, Location.

Put the last name first. If there are multiple authors, the
Author. subsequent ones follow with and then in normal order. For a
textbook or anthology, include editor after the persons name.

Put it in quotation marks if it is out of a larger work. In italics


Title of Source. if it is a standalone work.

When the source is part of a larger work, that larger work is


Title of Container, considered the container. This is usually put in italics.

If other people contributed to the work or are necessary to


Other Contributors, identify the work, include the names of other contributors.
This could be an editor, translator, illustrator, director, etc.

If the source identifies itself as a version of the work used,


refer to which version it is.
Version, This could be a certain edition, updated, expanded, directors
cut, or unabridged version.

The source may be part of a numbered sequence, such as a


Number, volume, issue, or series.

The organization or company that created the work or made it


available to the public.
Publisher, Ignore if this is the same as the title of the container, such as a
website or periodical.

Provide the date for the publication or release of the source.


This may be the full date or just the year as is necessary to
Publication Date, identify the source you used.
Format as Day# Month Year#.

For a work out of a larger text, provide the page numbers. Use
p. for a single page and pp. for a range of pages.
Location. For online sources, provide the simplest URL as is necessary.
Provide the permalink or DOI instead if available.

Notice you now leave out the CITY of publication, the ACCESS DATE, and the MEDIUM.
