Exp Name : Introduction with Power Supply Unit.
Objective : The main objective of this experiment is to know about different power supply units
and check the different voltages across every node.
T h e o r y : A bridge rectifier is an arrangement of four or more diodes in a bridge circuit
configuration which provides the same output polarity for either input polarity. It is used for
converting an alternating current (AC) input into a direct current (DC) output. A bridge rectifier
provides full-wave rectification from a two-wire AC input, therefore resulting in lower weight and
cost when compared to a rectifier with a 3-wire input from a transformer with a center-tapped
secondary winding. This bridge rectifier uses diodes for rectifying the input as shown in the figure.
Since the diode is a unidirectional device that allows the current flow in one direction only. The
A7805 & A7812 IC is used to get constant voltage of 5V & 12V. The rest of the voltage is dissipated
as heat in the IC. The Capacitors are used to reduce the ripples & noise of the output.

Discussion : In this Experiment we had the proper observation of bridge rectifier. All outputs
were measured in oscilloscope and the values were matched with the calculated values with
little changes. The experiment was successfully done without any problem.
