Lesson Content Description:


Students will be completing a review assignment which
demonstrates their Russian Revolution knowledge from the
unit. They will be completing a storyboard timeline for the
Russian Revolution, where they write a 2 sentence summary
and draw an illustration for each event. Then they will do their
Socratic Seminar prep for their final in small groups.

Instructional Strategies/Method of Delivery:


Small groups, collaborative, modeling/guided practice

Common Core Standard:


10.7.1. Understand the causes and consequences of the Russian Revolution, including
Lenins use of totalitarian means to seize and maintain control (e.g., the Gulag).

Common Core Cooperative Lesson Objective:


Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the Russian Revolution by creating a
storyboard timeline of important events.

Assessment:
Formative: students will show their understanding of the progress of events of the
Russian Revolution.

Daily Opener- Students will watch CNN 10 and write a personal reaction and
summary in response to the current event video
Then I will introduce the Storyboard Assignment

Re-state Common Core Content Standard and Objective: Students will demonstrate
their knowledge of the Russian Revolution by creating a storyboard timeline of important
events.

Technology used to create and enhance the introduction to this lesson: Video and
ChromeBooks
THROUGH

Step-by-Step Presentation of the Objective


I will review some of the main events of the Russian Revolution, and provide
examples of assignments they can use to help fill in their summaries
There will be an example of a storyboard on the screen

Step-by-Step Guided/Structured Practice of the Objective


Students will then have 20 minutes to work on their storyboards independently
They will finish the rest of their work for homework
I will monitor the class while they are working and use a timer to manage time

EL: Special Needs Adaptations: timer and example will help structure their work period

Performance
Students will then be placed into groups of 3-4, and I will review the questions for
the Socratic Seminar they will have for their final
Students will then use the rest of the period to work on the Socratic Seminar
questions in their small groups, using the assignments from their unit packet and
their textbooks
