Hello! Thank you for your interest in the River City Rhythm Drum and Bugle Corps. The staff at River City Rhythm prides
itself on providing its members with an outstanding education in the art of percussion performance. The RCR Drum and Bugle
Corps Front Ensemble will have openings in the following positions:

! Mallet Instruments (marimba, vibraphone, xylophone and glockenspiel)

Individuals who are interested in auditioning for the front ensemble should prepare the following exercises for our first
rehearsal:

When preparing these exercises, be sure to practice with a metronome in a variety of tempos and key signatures. Your ability
to play these exercises with and without a metronome, as well as the following additional aspects, will factor into what position
you will have in the ensemble:
! Technique
Sound Quality
Pitch Accuracy
Rhythmical Accuracy
Attitude (your ability to take comments and improve your playing, as well as your ability to work well with others)

Several etudes will be distributed at the first rehearsal to compliment the exercises found in this packet. These etudes will
eventually replace our traditional warm-up as the season progresses, and will also allow us to focus on our general presence
and performance skills.
