a.

Direct Fixing (wet or dry) for Natural Stone or Marble using suitable mechanical or chemical
fixings for cladding on internal walls of low and high-rise buildings and cladding on external
walls of low-rise buildings.

1. TFS L 10/100 or 8/80 From Tox, Plastic Fischer with stainless steel or galvanized
Germany for internal cladding screws can be used to dry fix marble on AAC
Thermalite internal walls. The technical information
is enclosed. According to this, the working load of
the above fixing is approximately 0.30 KN and the
temperature resistance is -40o c to + 60o c.

Two of our projects, Abu Dhabi Mall Towers and

Zomurda Center for Shk. Ahmed Bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Dubai, have followed this method for
internal walls.

Note: The TFS L 10/100 or 8/80 plastic Fischer

from Tox can be supplied by Al Jazeera Factory.
The fixings from other manufacturers, compatible
with lightweight blocks, available in the market also
can be used.

2. INJECTION SYSTEMS: The bolt should be of stainless steel for dry fix of
HY-150 Injection system with marbles on external walls. The technical
HAS from Hilti Germany, specification and the test result of maximum pull
TVM-STV-K-345 SF injection out is enclosed. As per AAC standards, the safety
System from Tox Germany factor that should be taken into consideration to
And other suppliers for internal attain the permissible load on AAC Thermalite
And external cladding. Block is 4. The technical specification is enclosed.
Two of our projects, The Palace for Shk. Hamdan
Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE (low-rise building
Of less than 4 floors) and Building for Ministry of
Education followed this method
3. Machine Anchors Stainless Steel The test result of maximum pullout and maximum
8/120 for internal and external sheer load enclosed. As per AAC standards, the
Cladding safety factor that should be taken into consideration

To attain the permissible load on AAC Thermalite

Block is 4.

One of our projects, Holiday Inn, Dubai, has

followed this method for external walls of ground
floors of approx. 5 Meters height.

Note: The above machine anchors are available in

the Local market

4. MRD 10/112 or 10/132 these fixings are used with mortar (mix method)
From Tox, Germany. To give adequate support to the stone cladding. This
method has been followed with more than hundred
villas all over UAE (low-rise buildings of up to
three stories).

b. Cladding on external walls of high-rise buildings.

1. Fixing to the channel substructure (stainless steel or aluminum) for high rise buildings which
can be more durable to resist the high wind load, high variation in the temperature and
earthquake. A similar system has been used at Abu Dhabi mall towers. More details on this can
be furnished on your requirement.

2. All natural stone cladding and lining on AAC Thermalite wall, as common with other
masonries, should be designed and installed as per the code of practice BS 8298:1994 or
equivalent. Prior to the actual selection of the anchoring system, the designer needs to establish
the following factors:
The physical characteristics of the stone
The design load and necessary safety factors.
The applicable wind and seismic loads
The anticipated extension of building dimensional changes resulting from :
Wind load survey
Thermal expansion and contraction
Elastic deformation
Seismic movement
Creep
Shrinkage
Note: The coefficients of the thermal expansion for AAC Thermalite blocks is 8x10-6 k-1
As common with all other masonry works, the recommendations of BS 5628 part 3: Use of
masonry like support of walls, maximum permitted area of walls due to the
Wind load etc. also should be taken into consideration at the initial stages of constructing the
walls. As per the above standard, the total area of external walls should be divided by
Intermediate support to meet the standard requirements. Please refer Page #14 of the above
standard.

Note: 1. all masonry works should be comply with BS 5628 par 3:2001 and with AAC.
2. The fixings used should be compatible with lightweight blocks.
2. As per the AAC standards, the recommended safety factor with
maximum pullout is 4 to attain the permissible load on AAC
Thermalite Blocks.
3. All other cladding procedures and practices remain the same as per the
BS Standard recommendations.
As with other masonries, to resist high humidity, the external walls should be
protected using any suitable condensation paint or any other suitable materials.
