The Lion from Lausanne1

by Radu Pintea,

Down to the last moment so much enduring

Under the martyrs plain crown
Mocked on by the historys frown
The holy burden of country love sting.

From Lausanne just checked in on shield

Valiant defender homebound to his dearest land
Knight Michael the virtues impeccable Godsend
With nothing but pure faith as crown to wield!.

He turned back as meek and quiet and neat

Back home for one last time call
He, the banned one, forgotten, and bravest of all
His memory to prop holy icons in quit.

Into the clay of Arge he surrenders be cast

Loyal under the loyal Swiss Guard Shield care
Royal soldier under ban of the times direst nightmare
To his dearest of lands, home free at last

At Lucerne lays down into a stone carved ledge

Deadly wounded,majestic a lion,fallen in heaving arrest
Still protecting under his spear torn chest
The lily he once swore to protect with a heartbound a
pledge.

Effigies of pure virtue down to the very last

edge.
