Negotiations Competition 2015/16 Round 1

Please examine this timetable carefully. If your team is not able to make the
allocated spot due to a timetable clash, please contact me no later than Friday
28th October at 9pm. All requests are to be sent to O.Aderiye@uea.ac.uk.
After this date and time it will be extremely difficult for the committee to make
any adjustments to timetables. Please keep in mind that under no
circumstance are you to miss any lectures or seminars in order to compete.

Teams will be eliminated from this round onwards, so please ensure you take
the time to prepare for the negotiation. You will receive general feedback on
your performance.

General Advice and Feedback:

-Please arrive to the designated venue, 5/10 minutes before your negotiation
is due to start, wearing formal attire.

-Remember that all Judges will NOT interfere in any way with the competition
once you enter the venue. You are simulating a real life situation so it is up to
you, being aware of time, to start/conclude the negotiation. (Pretend that
judges are not in the room!)

-The negotiation lasts for a maximum of 45 minutes. Balcony breaks are NOT
allowed during the early stages of the competition.

-All teams are advised to respect the time constraints. Judges will only
intervene once time has elapsed and will allow 1/2 minute to give concluding
statements. Your score however will suffer as time management is part of the
marking criteria.

-Remember to remain professional at all times throughout the negotiation. Do

not abruptly cut off another team when they are speaking

- Do not speak to your partner during the negotiation, simply communicate by

jotting notes down.

If for whatever reason you cannot make your negotiation, please do not just
not show up! This is extremely unfair to other competitors and the Committee
who spent a lot of time putting the competition together for you. Even if it is
 just one hour before you are due to compete, please send an email to
O.Aderiye@uea.ac.uk or D.Tuddenham@uea.ac.uk .
