Sumner Registration 2010-11
Sumner Registration 2010-11
We believe that children learn through play and by doing. We offer stimulating materials
and activities that allow them to grow and learn at their own pace, with the cooperative
support of parents and teachers.
Our Philosophy:
• We believe in providing an environment so that children and adults may grow to their
positive potential.
• We believe all children should have the opportunity to grow creatively toward their
physical, intellectual, emotional, and social potential.
Our Purpose:
• To provide a preschool school program for the children enrolled in our school. Also,
to provide parent education and support of the parents of those children.

SUMNER COOPERATIVE PRESCHOOL
What Are My Co-Op Responsibilities?
Parent Helping: Parents help in the classroom on a rotating basis an average of two
times per month. Our adult to child ratio is one adult to every four children. (Class size
may alter the number of working days per month and the number of working parents).
Parent helpers must arrive 15 minutes before class begins for set-up and allow 20-30
minutes after class for clean up. You are responsible for finding a substitute (or switch
with another parent) in the event of an unavoidable absence or emergency. Due to
insurance reasons, we cannot open our school without the proper number of parent
helpers. Also, no siblings are allowed in class.
Fundraisers: Family support of our chosen fundraisers is vital to the economics growth
of our school. We are non-profit organization and we rely on fundraisers for the
additional money our school requires to operate smoothly and purchase new
equipment. Therefore, your participation in chosen fundraisers is mandatory.
Parent Education: SCNS will also offer and require participation in parent education
during the course of the school year. It is a great opportunity to help each other through
discussion and sharing our own unique experiences with each other. The parent ed
component is still being stuctured, but group discussions, handouts to read, and
perhaps guest speakers from time to time are all being considered.
How Do I Register?
The following is a list of the forms that need to be returned, along with your registration
fee. Applications submitted with missing or incomplete information will be returned for
completion without reserving a space in the class. Note: REGISTRATION FEES ARE
NON-REFUNDABLE.
