HURRICANE HARVEY SUPPLY DRIVE ON SEPTEMBER 8 & 9

ITHACA, N.Y. – United Way of Tompkins County is collaborating with local volunteers and organizations to
organize a community-wide supply drive for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Items will be collected
throughout Tompkins County at designated drop-off sites on Friday and Saturday, September 8-9 and
transported to a drop-off location coordinated by the United Way of Houston the following week.

The items being requested for donation at this time are:


 Hand-held snack items (granola bars, peanut butter crackers, protein bars, etc.)
 Pop-top ready-to-eat items (canned meats, applesauce, vegetables, fruit cups)
 Shelf-stable pantry items (peanut butter, jelly, tuna, chili, beef stew and soup)
 Personal hygiene items (toothbrushes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, etc.)
 Cleaning supplies (bleach, buckets, garbage bags, paper towels, etc.)
 Bottled water
 Diapers

Clothing donations are no longer being accepted per the request of the supply collection sites in Texas and
Louisiana.

There will be trucks and volunteers on-site at the following locations at the times listed for those that would
like to donate:

Dryden Fire Station Friday, September 8 3 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Dewitt Middle School Saturday, September 9 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Ithaca High School Saturday, September 9 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Trumansburg School District Office Saturday, September 9 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Cornell University CC Parking Lot Saturday, September 9 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Lansing School District Office Saturday, September 9 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Newfield Central School Saturday, September 9 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Dryden High School Saturday, September 9 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Groton Junior/Senior High School Saturday, September 9 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

If anyone would like to volunteer to help load the trucks, they can do so by signing up at
getconnected.uwtc.org.
