DONUT SUNDAY: Due to the extreme heat this summer,
Donut Sunday has been postponed until September 12th.
We will be serving donuts "Spirit Weekend", in the courtyard,
after the 9:00am, 10:30 am, and 12:00pm Masses on September 12th
and again on September 19th. Stop by and meet members of your
Parish Council as well as members from different Ministries within our

PARISH PICNIC
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH

parish picnic to sign-up so we will have a
head count for food.
The picnic is free and we hope you will all come. Lots of fun

and how we can turn from our old ways and follow Christ. Tuesday

Altar Server Training AND an Existing Altar Server

WOMEN’S GUILD NEWS: The next Woman’s
Guild meeting will be September 21 on “Internet
Safety for your Children”. Please save the date as
everyone could benefit from this meeting! Rosary in
the church at 7:00pm and meeting starts at 7:30pm.
Women's Guild will also be going to Milledgeville State Hospital in
October to host a party for the patients. It is Monday, October 25
and if interested in helping call Bonnie Petrukovich 770 642-6810.

The St. Andrew's Conference of St. Vincent de Paul will

We are looking to add to our LECTOR/READER Group for Mass. If
you are in grades 3-8 and would like to be a part of our Mass then

the readings and training is provided.
We are also adding to our USHER Group for Mass. Anyone grades 4

And last, but not least, we still have openings in our KIDS OF THE
KINGDOM Mass Choir. This group meets on Monday from 5:15 to
6:00pm. We sing at the Saturday Mass weekly at 5:00pm, 2nd
grade and up.

Many of the events need volunteers for transportation. All volunteers must

Beginning this fall, Champs (4th-5th) and Edge (6th-8th) will
meet monthly for Youth Nights in rooms 201 and 202.

We have numerous opportunities to join our Music
CATECHETICAL SUNDAY Ministry. Won’t you consider one of the following:
“GET FIRED UP” KIDS OF THE KINGDOM: KK Youth Choir is open to
girls in 2nd grade and up, who love to sing and are in-
terested in serving our parish through the gift of music.
Rehearsals are Mondays from 5:15-6:00 pm and Saturdays at 4:30
before the 5:00 pm Mass. Choristers sing at the 5:00 pm Saturday
Family Mass September thru May.
ST ANDREW STRINGS: All of our last year players have graduated
and moved on to College. Now is the time to start anew! This group is
for advanced players either high school or adult. Please see me to
arrange an audition. This group practices bi-weekly and plays
monthly at various Mass times.
ST ANDREW BRASS: We still have openings in this group for you!
Must be an accomplished Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone horn, or
French Horn player.
BELL CHOIR: We have the bells…we need the ringers! The formal

St. Andrew’s Parish Council Minutes
Date: August 19, 2010, Members Present: John Miles (President), Marga-
ret Ward (Vice-President), Fran Schroeder (Secretary), Susan Demaso,
Chuck Langgood, Liz Schantz, Lisa Biagioni, Dennis Klein, Renay Miller,

Meeting called to order: The meeting was called to order by John Miles,
President at 6:25pm. Roll call was conducted. Quorum was established
and John Miles opened the meeting with prayers.
Opening Remarks/ Approval of Minutes: Motion by Margaret Ward to
approve the minutes, seconded by Dennis Klein, voted and approved.
John Miles introduced Father Vargas and welcomed him to our parish.
Old Business:
Spirit Sundays. Renay Miller reported all ministry heads had
been contacted and given the dates which are September
12th and 19th after all Masses . She was given approval for
three banners to advertize Spirit Sunday which will be used
each year. All Masses will be covered both Saturday and
Sunday and a brief talk will be given at each to promote the
event. . Donuts and coffee will be served. This event will be
held rain or shine.
Pro Life Ministry - Is in need of a leader. John Miles stated the
Knights will be meeting and will make sure one is chosen for
this very worthy ministry.
Helping Hands. The date is October 9th to weed and clean up the
grounds around the church. John will get the information in
the bulletin.
Casino Night. Dennis Klein reported on this event which will be
held October 16th. He has done a lot of research on the
event planning companies and is making a selection. Tickets
will go on sale mid- September. Proceeds will be used to
aid in renovations needed in the church.
Thank you to Lisa Biagioni. Lisa was presented with a card and
gift as a thank you for hosting the Parish Council dinner at
her home in July celebrating the Year of the Priest and Msgr.
Marren’s 34th anniversary in the priesthood.
Movie Night. Lisa Biagioni reported the last movie night was
sparsely attended. The next movie will be Percy Jackson
and the Olympians – The Lightening Thief. It will be shown
on Friday, September 17th at 7:30 pm.
Margaret Ward reported on the picnic. We will have sign-up
sheets at the back of the church on tables at all entrances
the first three weekends in September. The picnic is free but
we need a head count to make sure we have enough food
available. Michael DeLise will have his horse available for
rides to raise funds for Venture Crew. There also, will be a
dunk tank featuring “Dunk the Deacon” and “ Deacons in
Training”.
Thank you to Father Dan. The Parish Council gave a card and
gift to Father Dan to thank him for his service to our parish
this past year.
New Business:
St. Andrew’s Church Anniversary. The Feast of St. Andrew is
November 30th and will be celebrated at the Christmas party
this year which is December 4th.
Columbian Squires will be conducting a car wash. Date to be set.
Matthew Kelly Retreat. There will be a one day retreat on Satur-
day, September 11th at which he will present all new mate-
rial. Tickets will be on sale after Masses and on line. Infor-
mation will be in the bulletin.
Jeanne Faas reported there are a number of trees and limbs
which need to be removed in the area around the Stations of
the Cross. This will be done before the picnic.
Pastor’s Update: Msgr. extended a welcome to Father Vargas and
noted he has been a great help in the parish. He also, mentioned
Father Anthony has been here helping with Masses.
He reported the Knights of Columbus gave a donation to the Priest
Retirement Fund and he extended his thanks.
Msgr. commented on the good work the Eagle Scouts of our parish are
doing and what a joy it is to see our teenagers involved.
Needed renovations were also addressed.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:05pm with prayers by
Father Vargas.

grama es de $50 por alumno, cantidad que debe abonarse al
inscribirse o dar un deposito de $25 por alumno. Después de
agosto 31 habrá un recargo de $10.

Presentaciones de 3 años, el niño/a tiene que estar bautizado y ser
miembro de la iglesia de St. Andrew. No se hacen misas de presenta-
ción de 3 años.
QUINCEANERAS:
La familia tiene que estar registrada en St. Andrew.
La joven tiene que estar en proceso de preparación para la confirmación y
pertenecer al grupo juvenil. La misa de Acción de Gracia se celebra el
tercer sábado de mes. Registrarse en la oficina del Ministerio 4 meses
antes de la fecha.

El grupo de oración Semillas de Paz y Amor TE IN-
VITA a este seminario de ocho semanas patrocinado
por el padre Carlos Vargas y el grupo carismático de

TALLER DE ORACION Y VIDA
Presentación vibrante y activa de Jesús basada en el
AMOR y lo que este es capaz de realizar, no en el
temor ni en el castigo sino adaptada a las necesidades
de la sociedad actual. 15 semanas consecutivas.

REQUISITOS
BAUTISMO. Los padres tienen que estar registrados y asis-
tiendo a la misa dominical por tres meses antes del bautis-
mo de sus hijos. Presentar Acta de Nacimiento del niño/a.
Padrinos casados sacramentalmente deben de traer copia
del certificado de Matrimonio. Solteros: mayores de 16 años
de edad, certificado de Bautismo. Parejas en unión libre no
califican para ser padrinos. Pláticas de preparación: Primer
Martes del mes de 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm, asistencia obligatoria
de padres y padrinos. Ceremonia Bautismal segundo Sábado de mes a
las 11:00 am. Entrega de documentos los miércoles.
CONFIRMACION. Este curso de preparación es de dos
años para jóvenes que han hecho la Primera Comunión y estén
en noveno o decimo grado. Inscripción en la oficina del Minis-
terio Hispano.
MATRIMONIO. Inscritos en la parroquia. Reservar la fecha con
seis meses de anticipación. Certificado de bautismo actualizada, licen-
cia pre-matrimonial, clases de preparación LLASU (Llamados a ser
uno). Cita con el padre. Inscribirse en el Ministerio Hispano.
CATECUMENADO: Eres tu un adulto católico que te falta uno
o todos los sacramentos? Ofrecemos un curso especial donde te
preparamos para que puedas recibir los sacramentos y cumplir
así con los mandatos de la Iglesia Católica. El Rito de Iniciación
Católica para Adultos y jóvenes mayores de 9 años imparte las
clases los domingos de 5::30-7:00 pm. Inscribirse en el Ministerio
Hispano. Las clases comienzan el 19 de Septiembre 2010.
