Employment Connection is proud to have the St. Louis Community Credit Union teach financial literacy classes
to our World of Work students. In these difficult financial times, it is crucial that we have the knowledge to
manage finances better and understand how credit impacts lives.

The St. Louis Community Credit Union is committed to helping communities gain financial independence by
educating children, adolescents, and adults on the importance of financial literacy. Please contact St. Louis

New programs to assist those with limited opportunities


Employment Connection has recently partnered with the Missouri Department of Corrections, U.S.
Department of Labor, and United Way of Greater St. Louis to implement new projects to assist underserved
populations to self-sufficiency. Below is a description of each program:
Bridging Barriers: This intensive counseling, case management, and job training program with help those
returning to St. Louis from prison who are at a high risk of becoming re-incarcerated.
Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program: Employment Connection will assist 150 homeless U.S.
veterans to become self-sufficient, helping them get off the streets and into stable employment and housing.
Building Blocks-East St. Louis: This youth life skills, apprenticeship, and job training program is for low-
income youth ages 16-18 residing in East St. Louis. It is patterned off a successful model that Employment
Connection also operates in the City of St. Louis which will pay 50% of the wages to employers who hire
youth from the program.
