BEFORE beginning the test:


x Record subject’s height, weight, and age
x Take resting heart rate and blood pressure
x Calculate age-predicted heart rate max (220 - age)
x Calculate 85% of age-predicted heart rate max (predicted HR max * 0.85)
x Adjust bike seat
x Allow subject to do 2-3 minute warm-up
*Test is terminated when subject’s heart rate reaches 85% of age-predicted heart rate max.
**Throughout entire test, subject should be pedaling at 50 rpm
