The project plan is the formal document used to define the manner in which the
project will be managed and guided. Project plans provide the necessary actions to
define and coordinate all of the subsidiary plans included within the project plan.
A project schedule is a series of tasks and associated dates for a given project. Its
main purpose is to show the time line over which a project will be completed,
including start and end dates for tasks.
The project plan is organized in outline form with a clearly stated goal at the top of the
plan. After that, define the scope of the project; determine how many people you'll
need to pull it off and estimate the costs, balancing them with end profits. Establish a
budget. After you determine these main factors, start scheduling. Determine each
individual's roles and responsibilities. Divide the plan up into small tasks, each with its
own due date for completion and assign someone to be in charge of each task. A
schedule is in large part an estimation. As difficulties arise, they may necessitate
changes in the schedule. The schedule is fluid, whereas the project plan is stable.
