Abstract

In this thesis we had made brief study about the Self Compaction
Concrete. A self compaction concrete is the one that can be placed in the form
and can go through obstructions by its own weight and without the need of
vibration. Since its first development in Japan in 1988, Self compacting
concrete has gained wider acceptance in Japan, Europe and USA due to its
inherent distinct advantages and it helps in achieving higher quality of surfaces.
Self compaction concrete is also known as self consolidating concrete, self
leveling concrete and high fluidity concrete. It is relatively new type of concrete
that is highly flow-able and non-segregating, does not require vibration when
cast is capable of flowing through narrow opening or extremely congested
reinforcement, and provides a void-free surface. It avoids having to repeat the
same kind of quality control test on concrete, which consumes both time and
labor. Construction and placing become faster. Such concrete can accelerate the
placement, reduce the labor requirements needed for consolidation, finishing
and eliminate concrete environmental pollution. Self Compaction concrete mix
will be prepared by using trail error method. This trail mixes were prepared for
M25 and the suitable mix will be considered which passes in its properties test
such as Slump Cone test with the well-defined Self compaction concrete mix;
the Sun Proof chemical admixture has just added as an admixture from range
about 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4%. From these mix proportion details the specimen
such as Cubes are casted for the Compressive strength test.
