INTRODUCTION

Capacitor industry plays a vital role in the economic development of our

country. This industry is closely linked with the major developments.

In the 21st century, as the population is increasing day by day, the demands for
requirements are also growing But the resources are less to fulfill these
requirements .Power is one of the main requirement but nowadays it’s not
sufficient due to which the power shortage is occurring .Here the industry of
capacitors comes into the picture. This industries produces equipments like low
and high tension capacitor, automatic power factor correction panels, capacitor
Banks, etc. By using this equipment, we can reduce the level of power
consumption

These equipments can be used in any sector where the power consumption is
more, such as agriculture, cement, steel, tool making industries, Electricity
board, Big industries areas, etc. These machines also reduce accidents, short
circuits, etc.

Today the country is by and large self sufficient in respect of these items. Infect,
during the last decade, the industry has made enormous progress and has grown
both in size and diversity. With the growing demand of these equipments this
group of industry is expected to grow in near future.

 Providing with PSD on special order.

ELECTRONIC INDUSTRY

Electronics is one of the fastest growing segments of the Indian industry.

Today, the electronics industry is completely delicensed with the exception
aerospace.

The electronic industry in India constitutes less than 1% of the global

market. The demand for these products however is growing rapidly and the
investments are flowing in to augment the manufacturing capacity
Among manufacturing industries, the electronics industry occupies a key
position in modern science and technology. It plays a vital role in the
fields of atomic energy, communications, defense, education,
entertainment and space technology. Until the 1970’s the electronic

Bangalore Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore Page 9

industry was the most protected of all the Indian industries. The country’s
electronics policy strongly favored self-reliance and technology and
capital imports were strongly discouraged. This resulted in the electronics
industry being highly underdeveloped till the late 1980’s. The industry
was very inefficient producing outdated and low quality models at a very
high cost.
Electronic industry is a fastest growing sector in India, this sector start
from minute electronic items to large size transformers, capacitors etc,
without the support of electronic instruments no one company run. Its
also contribute in the improvement of the economic condition of the
nation

India remains a major importer of electronic materials, components and

finished equipment amounting to around $20 billion (Rs84000 crore now)
in 2008. The country imports electronic goods mainly from China
In the last four years, production of computers has grown at a
compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 31%, the highest among the
various electronic products in India. This has been followed by
communication and broadcast equipment (25%), strategic electronics
(20%) and industrial electronics (17%).
India is the fifth largest economy in the world and has the second largest
gross domestic product among the emerging economies. Owing to its
large population, the potential consumer demand is ever increasing and
consequently under appropriate conditions, strong growth performance
can be expected. The liberalization of the Indian economy that began in
1991 has started changing regulatory, financial, and monetary policies
leading to a higher pace of growth. The electronics industry is already a
world leader.
Several new themed zones will make their debut in 2009, reflecting the
latest technological developments in the fast-paced electronics industry,
namely Computer & Peripherals, Digital Imaging, Electronic Gaming
and Healthcare Electronics

INTRODUCTION
MEHER was founded in 1977 for the production and marketing of low tension
capacitors.
Application of capacitors for power factor improvement was the first step
towards Reactive Power Management (RPM), then a new concept in India.
RPM has, since then, grown to embrace many other functions like regulation of
active and reactive power flows, harmonic mitigation and Power Quality (PQ)
enhancement.
MEHER capacitors private limited was registered in Bangalore at 1984 for the
manufactures of low and high voltage capacitors. This organization was situated
in white field where it produced only small range of capacitors.
25kVr was manufactured in January 1988 where the new technology was
established with new plant at Attibele. There was low and high tension
capacitor in 1984, the assembly of panel’s section was started. Later as it grew
in 1994-1995 the assembly of control panels was also started.
The market was initially done by NGEF during 1984-91, since 1993 till date
Larsen and Turbo are carrying it out.

The organization has been awarded with the prestigious certification of ISO
9001:1994 by Mis.BVQI-Bure au Verities Quality International [holding]-SA,
London with effect from January 2001 and the company have been consistently
meeting the requirements of the quality standards in all their activities.
