Ethical behavior to social responsibilities

Personal ethics are the standards of human behavior that individuals of different cultures have
constructed to make moral judgments about personal or group situations. Ethical principles have
developed as people have reflected on the intentions and consequences of their acts. Naturally,
they vary over time and from culture to culture, resulting in conflict when what is acceptable in
one culture is not in another.

Ethical behavior for designers, engineers and architects

General duties

a) Those concerned with the design and planning of a construction project shall receive
training in health and safety and shall integrate the health and safety of the construction
workers into the design and planning process in accordance with national laws,
regulations and practice.
b) Care shall be exercised by engineers, architects and other professional persons, not to
include anything in the design which would necessitate the use of dangerous structural or
other procedures or materials hazardous to health or safety which could be avoided by
design modifications or by substitute materials.
c) Those designing buildings, structures or other construction projects shall take into
account the safety problems associated with subsequent maintenance and upkeep where
maintenance and upkeep would involve special hazards.
d) Facilities shall be included in the design for such work to be performed with the
minimum risk.

Conclusion

There are millions of people are being injured or lose their lives due to work related accidents.
The major reason for this can be identified as lack of awareness and safety facilities among
employees and this is mainly seen in 3rd world countries. Hence International Labour
Organization have paid close attention to these issues and been able to make a change in the
world ensuring the safety and health at work by spreading awareness of work relates accidents,
injuries and diseases and how to be protective of such adversities among communities.
