Subject : REPLACEMENT OF THE TEMPERATURE SENSORS ON RTAA
apy att
1, AIM:
‘The aim of this Service Bulletin s to inform you of the method to install the following sensors : SRSG
(saturated condensing temperature), SRS7 and SRS (EVP entering and leaving refrigerant temperatures).
2. DISCUSSION :
‘When replacing one of these sensors, it is imperative to respect the mounting instructions in order to
‘obtain precise temperatures measurements
Caution :
These sensors are directly in contact with the refrigerant and are installed without bufbwell . It is
absolutely necessary to drain the refrigerant according to the standard procedures and to bring the
refrigerant circuit to the atmospheric pressure before trying to unscrew these sensors from their
‘connections which are brazed onto the tubes,
[Note : The special connector in which the sensor is held must be systematically replaced when the sensor
is replnced,
Figure 5 explains the mounting order of the connector pars
2A Sensor SRS6
‘This sensor is located in a tube bend in the top part of the condenser between the control panel and
the condense.
‘This sensor has been mounted in two different ways as shown in figure 1 (units manufactured
before August 1993) and figure 2 (units manufactured after August 1993).

Both these sensors are located as shown on figure 3.

Figure 3
‘The sensor 5RS8, located between the electronic expansion valve and the evaporator, measures the
saturated evaporating temperature.
‘The sensor SRS7, located between the evaporator and the conspressor (suction line) measures the suction
{temperature to convert it into u pressure (in function of the refrigerant concerned). Comparing the value
of the temperature, the UCM module can calculate the suction gas superheating and sends the
{information to the EXV module (opening or closing the expansion valve) to respect the superbeat value
sven by the parameter 49.
In order to allow the optimal measure ofthe saturated evaporating and suction temperatures, both the
sensors must be compulsorily placed as illustrated in figure 4. The hole in the tip of the sensor shield
‘must be orientated inthe axis of the tube, so that it does not allow Liquid wo impinge upon the sensor
bead,
Note : As both these sensors, SRS57 and SRS8 are matched in pars. They must be replaced simultancously
by two sensors from a matched pair kit.
