Library Assistant III Hiring Committee Summer 2017

While on this committee, I was able to interview and assess current candidates for a position
that was similar to my own. I was also able to give pertinent information on the job itself and
answer questions from candidates that were relevant to my position. I was recommended by
my supervisor and the Dean of Kent Library asked me to be on the committee.

Student Orientation Committee Summer 2017- Present

This committee put together the orientation materials for our student workers in Kent Library. I
was the spearhead on the Customer Service and Phone Etiquette Video that was shown at
Student Orientation. This committee is ongoing and we are continually setting up events for our
student workers so they can meet other students who work in the Library but are from
different departments.
Experience:

Library Assistant III Kent Library 2017- Present

With this position, I oversee student workers. I help student workers with problems that might
arise. I am one of the Periodicals Supervisors and I work nights and weekends when other
library personnel have gone home. I am a point of contact in emergencies and in inclement
weather conditions.

Student Supervisor Kent Library 2014-2016

I perform tasks such as checking in and out books. As well as running searches for missing books
and putting away government documents. My job also includes the closing the library, so if an
emergency situation were to arise, I can close the library with my prior knowledge.

Counselor Kidcam Summer Camps May 2014- Aug 2014

In this position I was the head Counselor to the youngest group of children. I was able to make
activities for the students to engage them, and I was able to supervise when we went on field
trips off campus.

Volunteer Fairview Heights Public Library Summers 2007-2012

I volunteered at the Library for 6 summers and was able to help with their summer reading
program. In this position I was able to help children with crafts that were tied to the theme of
that summer. I was also able to count patrons as they came into some of our bigger events to
accurately predict how popular the particular entertainer would be if they came back to do
another show the next summer.

Tutor Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School Spring 2011-Fall 2013

I worked for a year and a half at Holy Trinity Catholic Grade School as an afterschool tutor. I was
able to help students with their studies and helped them study for tests that they might have
the next day. In this position, I was able to use social skills to help countless children with
multiple problems that arose.
